Mappy Meetup: Connecting the Mapmaking & Vis Communities
Description:
Let’s talk about maps! If you have a passion for spatial data, cartography, or other geospatial visualization, this meetup is for you. Our goal is simple: to bring the cartography community and the IEEE Vis community together to share knowledge, find collaborators, and learn from one another. Ester Scheck (Next Generation Cartographers) and Alton Hipps (NACIS) will host this informal gathering. Apart from some brief information about the cartographic networks we‘re active in, the meetup will mostly focus on exchange between participants. We’ll have icebreakers ready to kick things off, so don't worry if you're coming alone. Whether you have a specific cartographic problem you want feedback on or you're just interested in meeting new people in the field, we’d love to see you there! Prospective audience: The meetup aims at researchers and practitioners working with maps and geospatial data, or interested in the topic of cartography.
